Extracurricular activities are activities performed by students that fall outside the realm of the normal curriculum of school. Involvement in extracurricular activities allows students opportunities to develop skills in areas of their individual talents or interests. It also provides a new avenue to meet classmates with similar interests. Participation in extracurricular activities increases self-esteem, promotes responsibility, assists students with time management skills, builds socialization skills and is favorable to college entrance committees. Many students participate in several different extracurricular activities throughout the school year.
